Dinner and a show. There's a reason this phrase gets bandied about so much in the summer! It's such a good season for theatre! Now, we've got four great recommendations to help stage your summer.

Break a leg!

Park Playhouse

Park Playhouse, Washington Park, Albany

As we get to Summer, it's time to put Washington Park back on your radar! Starting in July, the park will be a mecca for theatre-goers as the park's Lakehouse is transformed into Park Playhouse, a community theater company that offers free productions throughout the summer.

This year's shows will start with Ragtime, June 29-July 29, a musical based on E.L. Doctorow's award-winning novel. Their second production, will be performed from August 4-19, The Music Man, is a delightful romp, featuring a con man music teacher who makes good. Then, beginning, August 22, the Park Playhouse Kids, will present a youth production of The Lion King, Jr. at Cohoes Music Hall.

The best part is that lawn tickets are free! They also offer premium seating at $16 a ticket for side section seats and $18 for center section seats closer to the stage, and $24 for table seating.

Grab some food ahead of time at McGuire's Restaurant or El Marriachi, and you'll be just a few minutes away to make sure you can snag those prime lawn seats before they're gone!
