Inspiration
Mrs. Harmon Pumpelly Read, a noted Albany hostess at the turn of the century, was known to serve Pumpelly Punch. This powerful potent may have evolved from an earlier recipe used by ancestor, George Read, a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
Mixology
1 quart St. Croix Rum
1 quart brandy
1 bottle Arrack
1 bottle peach brandy
1 pint strong green tea
1 quart champagne
4 lbs sugar
Juice of 12 lemons
1 lemon, sliced
2 quarts water
Mix ingredients. Let stand 24 hours before serving.
