Overview

The American Italian Heritage Museum honors Italian immigrants and their contributions to America by telling their story through artifacts, photographs, and documents exhibited in an historic Mission Revival style church built in 1922. Renovated to house the Museum and Cultural Center, the building features ten rooms depicting the journey of Italian immigrants as they transitioned to Italian Americans.

The building is unique for its conversion from a church to a Museum and Cultural Center, and for its architecture: exterior stucco walls, a square bell tower, a covered entry with an arched passage, and a quatrefoil window. In 2015, Historic Albany Foundation presented the Museum with a plaque signifying “its outstanding achievement of the re-use of a religious building.”

Exhibit rooms showcase the immigration experience, folk art, faith, music, contributions to America, old photographs, and military service. A special exhibit room features new displays of artwork, six times a year.
