Overview

Albany Center Gallery (ACG) has been a vital platform for contemporary visual artists to engage with the public for over 45 years. ACG's mission is to promote and exhibit art produced by the region’s emerging and established artists, as well as engage, enrich, and inspire the community to appreciate the importance of art.

Since Leslie Urbach opened the gallery’s doors in 1977, thousands of the area’s finest contemporary artists have exhibited at Albany Center Gallery using a wide variety of disciplines, some of which include: painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, printing, fiber arts, video, mixed media, installation, artist books, and more.

Apart from exhibitions, Albany Center Gallery offers multiple programs that serve the art community and the general public. This includes receptions, artist talks, art in public places, panel discussions, and youth art programs. The gallery presents a minimum of eight significant exhibitions annually, one being the Mohawk-Hudson Regional Invitational, and collaborates with local artist mentors to offer free youth art programs each month. Many of the artists who exhibit at ACG have gained national and international recognition.

Albany Center Gallery is committed to providing free and open access to all its exhibitions and a majority of programming. Additionally, the gallery space is free, open to the public, and fully handicapped accessible. ACG’s vision is a community shaped and enhanced by the visual artists, who reflect and influence the evolving, inclusive, and multifaceted culture of the Greater Mohawk-Hudson Region.
