Fort Orange Brewing
Fort Orange Brewing is a microbrewery full of industrial charm in Albany's Warehouse District. The brewery's name is a nod to the 17th-century Dutch settlement Fort Orange, a trading post at the location of present-day Albany. Visitors heading to the brewery's Warehouse District taproom can't miss the massive mural by Katherine Ashby depicting the historic Fort Orange Trading Post. This brewery truly captures the spirit of Albany!
Cider Belly Doughnuts
Sweeten up your day with a visit to Cider Belly Doughnuts. After selecting a delectable doughnut, snap a photo of the sweet treat against the mural of the Albany skyline. Located in the doughnut shop's cafe space, the mural by artist @wherethevinesgrow is a striking depiction of Albany's skyline featuring the city's most prominent landmarks.
Albany Distilling Company
ADCo Bar & Bottle Shop is housed in a renovated 19th-century Nabisco factory, complete with twinkle lights and exposed brick walls. Before heading in to sip on a handcrafted cocktail, admire the eye-catching mural directly to the right of the garage door. The mural by street artists Gaia and Nanook was part of "The Living Walls" public art program in 2011.
Nine Pin Cider
New York's first farm cidery, Nine Pin Cider, has a history with murals. The Warehouse District cidery and tasting room sits under the shadow of a huge rose mural painted 20 years ago by the father of Alejandro del Peral, Nine Pin's founder. The tasting room's patio is adorned with a "Cider Monster" mural that was a spur-of-the-moment creation by graphic artist Colin Byrne. This graffiti-style mural inspired the popular Cider Monster small-batch cider produced each year. Most recently, local artists have painted two new murals on the Thacher Street side of the cidery. I Apple Albany (designed by Joe Klockowski & painted by Ilona Kilmek) is an Instagram-lovers dream. The "moveable mural" Rip Van Winkle by Billy Lyons is a nod to the game from the infamous story that inspired the cidery's brand name.
