Thornatesska Heritage Center

Explore the rich history of Albany and the surrounding area, uncover mystifying interactive scientific displays, and journey into space at the Wetherbee Planetarium. The Heritage Center features a history museum, science museum, and planetarium with goals to provide a space in which human, natural, and physical sciences can be explored. A unique location created in part to preserve Albany's history, the heritage center is located upon the original, and only remaining brick street in the city.

Albany Civil Rights Institute

At the location of the newly restored 1906 Old Mt. Zion Church in which Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. spoke to thousands of gatherers in 1961, the Albany Civil Rights Institute educates visitors on the civil rights movement in the area including voter registration, nonviolent protest, song, boycott and legal action. The institution details the history with oral histories, photographs, documents, interactive exhibits, and artifacts.
