Discover Albany and partners roll out new programming & events throughout October
ALBANY, N.Y. (Oct. 5, 2023) – Discover Albany, in collaboration with partner organizations, commenced the highly-anticipated Albany All-Hallow E'en Festival this week. The kickoff event at Albany City Hall brought together community leaders, elected officials, and representatives from partner organizations to unveil the lineup of Halloween-themed events and activities in Albany throughout the month-long celebration.
The Albany All-Hallow E'en Festival brings exciting experiences all month long, including public art installations, community gatherings, dramatic tours, historical exhibitions, and Albany's first-ever Halloween House Ball. The partner organizations that made this festival possible include Albany Center Gallery, Historic Albany Foundation, Capital Repertory Theatre, Downtown Albany BID, In Our Own Voices, and several others.
“We are thrilled (and chilled!) that so many incredible partners are helping us infuse Halloween joy into Albany this year,” said Discover Albany Community Engagement Manager Maeve McEneny-Johnson.
“The origins of the All Hallow E’en Festival dates back to the original 1904-1905 celebration that was wacky, and wild, and so authentically Albany. We’re excited to bring it back with our own modern twists on the story.”
“This incredible month-long celebration is the culmination of years of brainstorming, hard work and collaboration among our staff and partners.” said Discover Albany President Jill Delaney. “I am thrilled that the City of Albany’s Albany For All grant committee saw the potential in this project and supported our efforts.”
The Albany Center Gallery, has launched the All Hallow E’en Art Path, a public art project decorating the streets and windows of downtown Albany businesses for the Halloween season and highlighting local artists in the region. Discover Albany, Historic Albany Foundation, Capital Repertory Theatre and the New York State Capitol are offering special tours for the season featuring ghost stories, Albany history, haunted locations and more. Later in October, In Our Own Voices will host Albany’s first Halloween House Ball & Pageant, an event paying homage to 1980s Ballroom culture with competitive dance, lip-syncing, and runway walks in various categories.
