P. 3

Whether you are a first-time visitor or coming back for work or recreation, I encourage you to experience Albany in 2017.
We have much to be proud of: Albany is home
to the New York State Capitol and Empire State Plaza, numerous historic and cultural sites that reflect the region’s role in New York State history, and many areas where residents and visitors can take in the county’s natural beauty.
This year, we celebrate the opening of the Albany Capital Center and Capital Complex. Comprised of four unique meeting and event venues, the Capital Complex represents the largest meeting space in upstate New York.
There are plenty of lodging options available in downtown Albany, including the Renaissance Albany Hotel, the Hilton Albany, Hampton Inn & Suites, Fairfield Inn & Suites, and Holiday Inn Express.
For outdoor activities, Lawson Lake County Park, on the border of the Towns of Coeymans and New Scotland features 420-acres of forested upland, open fields, waterfalls, streams, and a lake. Users can take advantage of several marked trails, which offer access for hiking and cross country skiing. Thacher State Park along the Helderberg Escarpment provides a sweeping panorama of the Hudson and Mohawk Valleys, as well as the Green and Adirondack Mountains.
Our diverse communities, rich history, natural beauty, and great people make the county one of the best places to visit in New York.
I hope you enjoy your visit to Albany County.
