P. 3

Whether you are a first-time visitor or coming back for work or recreation, I encourage you to experience Albany in 2018.
We have much to be proud of: Albany is home
to the New York State Capitol and Empire State Plaza, numerous historic and cultural sites that reflect the region’s role in New York State history, and many areas where residents and visitors can take in the county’s natural beauty.
2018 is a year of renewal and revitalization in downtown Albany with the opening of the Albany Capital Center and the state-of-the-art changes at the Times Union Center. Bookings at the Capital Center have been strong and our Capital Complex can accommodate events of varying capacities.
There are plenty of lodging options available in downtown Albany, including the Renaissance Albany Hotel, the Hilton Albany, Hampton Inn & Suites, Fairfield Inn & Suites and Holiday Inn Express.
Outdoor activities abound with options at Lawson Lake County Park, on the border of the Towns of Coeymans and New Scotland, which features 420-acres including a lake, forested upland, open fields, waterfalls and streams. Users can take advantage of three marked trails, which offer access for hiking and cross country skiing. Thacher State Park along the Helderberg Escarpment provides a sweeping panorama of the Hudson and Mohawk Valleys, as well as the Green and Adirondack Mountains.
Our diverse communities, rich history, natural beauty, and great people make the county one of the best places to visit in New York.
I hope you enjoy your visit to Albany County.
