This prestigious tournament is being held at the Times Union Center. The Times Union Center is an indoor arena, located in Albany, New York, that can fit 6,000-17,500 people, with a maximum seating capacity of 15,500, for sporting events.

The Sports Foundation of the Capital Region, the Albany County Convention and Visitors Bureau and I LOVE NY invite basketball fans to celebrate the return of the MAAC to downtown Albany with a FanFest on Saturday, March 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 8 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. ADMISSION IS FREE.  The MAAC FanFest, sponsored by our friends at Dunkin' Donuts and Mazzone Hospitality will add another element of excitement to the popular basketball tournament.  The event will feature live music, pep bands, inflatable bounce houses, face painters, stilt walkers, carnival games, a selfie photo booth, and more on South Pearl Street and under a heated tent.  The MAAC FanFest will launch with the Dunkin' Donuts Bounce to the Arena event, during which as many as 250 children from the Albany Police Athletic League will dribble basketballs from the nearby Palace Theatre to the Times Union Center on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.  The kids are expected to arrive at the Times Union Center at 11:30 a.m. to officially kick-off the MACC FanFest.

You'll want to stay before or after they play! Enjoy Albany's superb variety of attractions; from excellent restaurants to downtown nightlife and uptown shopping, there are plenty of ways to have fun in Albany before the tournament begins and for your post event celebrations.

Welcome to MAACuisine in downtown Albany:
Be sure to participate in the MAAC PASSPORT Program at one of the restaurants- please click here. After your meal, kindly ask your server to affix a sticker to your PASSPORT. Once you have at least 3 stickers, you may return the PASSPORT to the Albany Convention Bureau Kiosk located on the concourse of the Times Union Center. At that time you will be eligible for some complimentary restaurant offerings that will be drawn throughout the tournament. You do not need to be present to win. Wait, that's not the "final buzzer" ...everyone who has participated in the PASSPORT program will be eligible for the "ALBANY CHAMPIONSHIP PACKAGE" which will include two 2016 MAAC Basketball All Season Pass Tickets and other amazing Albany items.

One winner will be drawn during the Women's Championship Game on Monday, March 9 at 4:30pm and Men's Championship Game at 9:00pm. In addition to sampling some of the best food in town from many of our award-winning chefs, we hope you will also have a chance to visit and view breath-taking architecture in our 400 year old city. More information can be found on     You have to be in it to win it!!

A few blocks from the Times Union Center is the contemporary design of the Empire State Plaza, completed as a vision of Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller in 1978. The Plaza was built not only to serve as government offices, but as a center of arts, culture and community activity. The New York State Museum (the largest State Museum in the country), the Empire State Art Collection and the Empire State Performing Arts Center (known as The Egg for its unusual and distinctive design) are all contained at the Plaza. All of these venues are within walking distance of the Times Union Center. In addition, you will be able to visit the NYS Capitol as well as the Albany Institute of History & Art.

Approximately 20 minutes from downtown Albany is the Wolf Road area. You will find many options for shopping and dining, including over 40 restaurants and the Colonie Center Shopping Mall featuring L.L. Bean, P.F. Chang's, The Cheesecake Factory, Christmas Tree Shops, Sephora and Regal Cinemas Stadium 13.
