  • Overview

The PS21 was inaugurated in June 2006 as a space dedicated to presenting and nurturing the performing arts of dance, music, theater, and film in a natural setting. Presenting internationally recognized music ensembles and dance companies, PS21 encourages community participation in the performing arts through community events and performing arts workshops for children and adults. In 2018 PS21 completed work on a brand new state of the art Theater. The unique venue is set on 80 acres of restored orchard fields that provides both a traditional proscenium stage with open-air seating protected by a pavilion roof and an intimate black-box theater that can operate year-round. The pavilion configuration seats 300 and the black-box 99. The black-box accommodates a flexible riser system that can be arranged into any configuration. During the summer months, the east wall slides open, reconfiguring the floor into the stage for the open-air theater. A retractable riser system in the pavilion is pulled out to accommodate 300 seats. Both flexible spaces can be used as traditional performing arts venues or reconfigured for open rental spaces for Weddings etc. The new Theater boast: Building and theater-wide LED lighting State-of-the-art projector and sound system Fixed-pipe grid Geothermal heating and air-conditioning Dressing rooms Administrative offices Meeting facilities Warm up/rehearsal space Conditioned storage Food service area and cafe Reception patio Box office/gift shop Ample accessible parking Enclosed lobby
