In the fall of 1824, Job and Polly Wicks and their 10 children arrived at the Watervliet Shaker community. So began a 70-year association of the Wicks family with the Shakers. Join us for a walking tour of the present day Shaker site to learn how this large family contributed in various ways to the story of the Shakers. Guided by Ann Sayers, who recently authored a book on the Wicks family drama. (Tour happens rain or shine.)
Shaker Heritage Society is located at the site of the first Shaker settlement in America, near the Albany Airport. It is a wonderful oasis of historic buildings, an herb garden, orchard, the Ann Lee Nature Preserve, and the Shaker Cemetery. Register on Eventbrite or contact SHS.
