Ten Broeck Mansion's "Appetite for History" is thrilled to present "The Van Rensselaer Receipt Books"
What did families like the Van Rensselaers and Ten Broecks eat? Historic Cherry Hill's Deborah Emmons-Andarawis will discuss the wonderful recipes handed down through the Van Rensselaer family over the generations.
Ever wondered how to make “krullen,” get rid of bed bugs, or cure the bite of a mad dog? These answers can all be found in the “receipt books” kept by the women of Cherry Hill from 1768 to 1963! The books are mostly culinary—but also include any tid-bits a lady might need to run a large, prosperous household. Join Historic Cherry Hill’s Curator and Acting Director, Deborah Emmons-Andarawis, in a mostly culinary exploration of domestic know-how passed from woman to woman down the Cherry Hill generations.
Join us at Ten Broeck Mansion for this fun and informative look at the lives of early Albanians and their culinary habits.
