    The Association of BellTel Retirees is hosting a meeting July 18th to discuss important retirement concerns—including protecting pensions and health benefits—of fellow retirees

    The meeting is at ELKs Lodge #2192, 11 Elks Lane, Latham, NY, just outside of Albany

    Telephone company retirees from throughout the Albany, New York, western Massachusetts, and southern Vermont area will gather for an open discussion about key issues that impact their collective retirement futures. The event is free and sponsored by the Association of BellTel Retirees, a non-profit group that works to protect the pensions and benefits of over 134,000 Verizon retirees, many from New York, Massachusetts, and Vermont.

    The event is free and will take place Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 1PM at the ELKs Lodge #2192, 11 Elks Lane, Latham, NY 12110.     The meeting will address several salient issues relating to retirement benefits, including: pension protection; the dangerous trend of companies selling off or de-risking retirees pension assets; retiree health benefit reductions; important retiree legislation in Albany, Boston and Washington, DC; shareholder proxy proposals; sickness/death benefits and more.

    Recent and longtime Verizon retirees alike, are welcomed and encouraged to participate.

    Founded in 1996, the Association of BellTel Retirees has over 134,000 members from across the nation, many in the local area. It fights to protect retirees’ earned pensions and health care benefits. Members include both union and former managers from Verizon and the old Bell System companies, including NYNEX, Bell Atlantic, New England Telephone, New York Telephone, MCI, GTE, Verizon Directory Operations (now IDEARC/Supermedia) and more.
