Pop-Up Beer Garden Series

Opalka Gallery is pleased to announce the return of the annual Pop-Up Beer Garden series to the grounds outside the gallery on the Albany campus of Russell Sage College. For the first three Fridays of September, the campus will open up for a family friendly event with food trucks, local brewers, regional bands, free screenprinting and lawn games. New for this year will be an added Makers Market on September 20, the closing night of the series. Leather goods, jewelry, textiles, stationery, pottery, soy candles and more will be available from local artisans.
Indoors, visitors will be able to explore the first exhibition of the season, Painting at Night, on view Sept. 3 through Oct. 12, the reception for which coincides with the second Pop-Up Beer Garden on Sept. 13, from 6:00 pm to 9:00. Painting at Night is a collaborative effort between Opalka, Collar Works and Artist/Mother Podcast exploring artwork by caregivers. The exhibition was curated by Alisa Sikelianos-Carter and Sean Desiree and includes 38 artists.
The Pop-Up Beer Gardens are free and open to the public with food and beverages from various vendors for purchase. Headliners include Troy’s own fabled rock trio, Super 400, opening the series on September 6, with special guest Caity Gallagher. On September 13, Home Body, a fever-pop duo from Western Massachusetts makes its Beer Garden debut with special guest Adam Tinkle and His Long Awaited Wrinkle. The Parlor, an Altamont dream-pop duo, will close out the series on September 20 with special guest Amanda Case.
Regional craft beverage makers include Druther’s Brewing, Frog Alley Brewing, Rare Form Brewing, Nine Pin Cidery, Fort Orange Brewing and Mean Max Brewing. A range of food trucks will be on hand, from Dotty’s Lou’s BBQ, Slidin’ Dirty, and Skinny Pancake to Grammy’s Tamales, Mi Casa and La Capital Tacos.
