  • Overview

This program is suitable for tweens, teens and adults.

Join us for a mid-day foray into the Albany Pine Bush in search of mushrooms. The Albany Pine Bush Preserve is home to a diversity of fungi that play an integral role in the functioning of this ecosystem. Our guide, Mr. Steve Rock has studied wild mushrooms as an active member of the Connecticut-Westchester Mycological Association (COMA) for several decades.  Steve is a regular contributor to the Hudson River Almanac and has spoken on wild mushrooms and led foraging hunts for several organizations.

We will gather at the Hunger Kill Barrens trailhead (#10) and explore the trails in this region in search of mushrooms. Then we will head back to the Discovery Center to examine and discuss the species we found. Personal transportation is required.
