    Joachim Frank, long-time UAlbany faculty member, founder of the field of single-particle cryoelectron microscopy, is the winner of the 2017 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Frank has also maintained a lifelong devotion to the art of creative writing as a published poet and fiction writer.
