Judith Barlow reviews the award-winning 2018 memoir Educated by Tara Westover. This book recounts Westover’s journey to obtain a doctoral degree after her isolated, survivalist upbringing and stepping into a classroom for the first time at ge 17.
Barlow is a professor emerita of English and women’s studies at the University of Albany.
