I have been painting, writing and making things since I was a girl growing up in Queens, N.Y. In college, I studied English, studio art and art history, then went on to a career in journalism and communications. I embrace art as a language of its own, one that grounds and balances me. Working in oil on canvas and on wood, I gravitate toward landscapes and florals. Frida Kahlo once said, “I paint flowers so they will not die.” During the cold months, when my perennial garden hibernates and I’m craving color, I find myself steeped in floral canvases of all proportions. The hues, contours and asymmetries are what I strive to capture, using thick impasto, jewel tones and playful turns of the palette knife. I am a member of several local arts organizations and have shown my work, which also includes portraits and abstracts, in galleries and other venues throughout the Capital Region. www.tinalincer.com
