Fenimore Art Museum presents its eleventh annual juried art event celebrating the relationship between artists and the landscape, Art by the Lake, taking place on the museum’s expansive lakefront lawn. In addition to showcasing outstanding painters, photographers, and sculptors selling their work, the event features artist demonstrations, great food, live music, plus great beer – all with the backdrop of picturesque Otsego Lake.
Art by the Lake is a juried art competition featuring artists from the region. A panel of judges determines awards and spectators vote for the Audience Favorite Award. The awards ceremony takes place at 3:00 p.m.
While at Art by the Lake, tour the Fenimore’s acclaimed summer exhibitions featuring Thomas Cole and The Garden of Eden and Seen & Unseen: Photography by Imogen Cunningham. Other exhibits include The Barber Surreal: Eugene Berman’s Reimagined Barber of Seville, Hamilton’s Final Act: Enemies and Allies, History: Photographs by David Levinthal, and others.
In addition to the spectacular art and just a short stroll away is the museum’s Native American interpretive site, Otsego: A Meeting Place, where you’ll find Native American storytelling at the Lucy B. Hamilton Amphitheater. Visit our calendar for a complete list of tours to be given at Fenimore on August 11.
Enjoy great food and beverages prepared locally and live music. The Fenimore Café and Fenimore Gift Shop are open throughout the day.
Admission to Art by the Lake is $12 for ages 13+, $10.50 for ages 65+, and includes access to Fenimore Art Museum and this summer’s popular exhibitions. Museum members and children 12 and under are free. Active and retired career military are also free when presenting their card at admissions. No other discounts apply.
