April's here! Bring out the sunshine and spring weather! Check your temperatures because you may a have a bit of Spring Fever! It's a good thing that Albany County has a lot going on to bring out the best in you! From dining events to performances and comedy, in addition to ways to celebrate Earth Day there plenty of things to do right here in the Capital Region. 1) Fork in the Road Events Begin

April 8th starts the Fork in the Road food truck events in Downtown Albany. Grab anyone you wish, even your dog, and head on over for an evening full of food and fun! Happening once a month until October, each event brings many people from all areas to Tricentennial Park in Downtown Albany. Get out there and get excited for the upcoming live music, food, and an enjoyable time with family and friends.

2) Downtown Albany Restaurant Week 2016April 9th-April 15th

Want a wonderful way to welcome spring? Mark your calendar for this week-long event featuring 17 participating restaurants, multiple retail deals, and a 3 course meal! 3) "Fool me once... fool me Twice": Laugh with Mopco Improv

Missed April Fools day? No worries, you can fool around all month with this hilarious improv group, now during weekly gigs at Proctors. Check out "Real Life: The Improv" each week, featuring a new guest each week. Also check out the Mopco Improv Jam April 16th and 21st! What's an Improv Jam you ask? Well, "it's kind of a party, kind of a show, and kind of a class." Ultimately this is a fun way to get together and play improv games, not to mention a great date night! (Hint..Hint!) 4) USS Slater Opens for the Public

On Wednesday April 6th, the only remaining World War II Destroyer Escort afloat in America, the one and only USS Slater will be on view! Discover the tremendous changes to the ship since she first arrived in this ship's 19th Season in Albany. Learn about the history hidden within one of the best restored, most historically accurate World War II ships in the world.

5) Sweet Adelines returning to the Capital Region

Bringing harmony, friendship and fun, Sweet Adelines is coming to the Empire State Plaza along with their regional competition on April 8th-9th. Their complimentary concert starts the event on April 8th at 12pm, and will take place right on the steps of the NYS Capitol! This event is not one to miss, where Mayor Kathy Sheehan will be declaring that Friday Sweet Adelines Day, while County Executive Daniel McCoy will welcome all competitors back to the Capital Region! Spend the day outside, and afterwards take a walk around.

6) John Mellencamp at the Palace Performing Arts Center

John Mellencamp delivers "A triumphant, career-spanning show (Hollywood Reporter)" with a "superb performance...still full of fiery defiance" (Boston Globe). On April 23rd see him at the Palace for his latest tour! Mellencamp's career in music spans over more than 35 years, and his Plain Spoken Tour with Carlene Carter brings songs from the 2015's Plain Spoken, his 22nd studio album, as well as many fan favorites. 7) Celebrate Earth Day in the Pine Bush

What's a better way to celebrate Earth Day, than to volunteer on a conservation project in the Albany Pine Bush? On April 16th, there will be a variety of activities to give back to our own planet Earth in a local area. Suitable for all ages, this event is free, and lunch will be provided for all volunteers.
