Albany, N.Y.—Oh, there’s no place like the Capital Region for the holidays! Alright, so that’s not exactly how the song goes, but Albany County is a beautiful and exciting place to be during the holiday season. Whether its going to see the Lights in the Park, catching a performance of Christmas Carol, or something a little less traditional, like the Last Run 5K, there is something to get everyone in that holiday feeling! 

This season, let Albany prove that home isn't the only place to spend the Holidays! Visit Albany County and let experience the events and performances that make Albany such a great place to be, especially during this time of year.  
 
Come to the Empire State Plaza Tree Lighting and Fireworks on December 1! Experience Albany’s warm sense of community and celebrate the start of the most wonderful time of the year. You can also view the beautiful Capital Holiday Lights in the Park in Albany’s historic Washington Park as you make your away around and see this year’s light designs.
 
Visitors flock in to the Capital Region to see the holiday performances at The Palace Theater, Capital Repertory Theater, Cohoes Music Hall, or Proctors! They offer an array of seasonal favorites like A Christmas Carol and The Nutcracker and some of the less traditional like Plaid Tidings and Christmas with the Rat Pack. While on your way to all of the fabulous holiday themed events and shows make sure to look out for the Jingle Elves positioned in plain view around the downtown area and participate in the Jingle Elf Quest! See downtown decorated for the season and go on the Holiday Historic Tour, a historical tour of Albany with a little glad tidings mixed in. You can also experience some history at the Shaker Heritage Society and attend their Holiday Craft Fair. Albany also hosts the Last Run 5K on December 14. The course loops around Albany and even through the Lights in the Park display.
