Albany, NY - Albany I Spy is an active social media contest that encourages residents and visitors to explore downtown Albany using daily clues provided on the Albany I Spy Master Clue Sheet and additional clues from local social media outlets including: Albany Archives, Discover Albany (Albany County Convention & Visitors Bureau), Downtown Albany Business Improvement District, and All Over Albany. The purpose of the contest is to promote downtown Albany and gain significant exposure of its many architectural and commercial assets.
Participants will download a form from www.albany.org/ispy that includes 14 clues, one for each of the buildings/landmarks in the downtown area that have been selected for this contest. Using the clues provided on the form, as well as the daily additional clue that can be found on the sponsors' social media sites and by using the hashtag #albanyispy, participants will take to the streets of downtown to find the building and correctly list it on their sheet.
At the end of the two-week contest, participants will submit their forms for judging. The participant/team with the most correct answers will win prizes ranging from gift certificates and gift baskets to downtown businesses. Additional prizes for participation will be awarded.
The event will take place over the course of two weeks, with the first clue given on Saturday, June 1, and the final clue given on Friday, June 14.
All participants and friends are encouraged to attend a special closing celebration at The City Beer Hall on Saturday, June 15, from 1-3 pm where participants and guests may enjoy drink specials and prizes will be distributed.
