Discover Albany’s All-Hallow E’en Festival returns for its second October in Albany
ALBANY, N.Y. (Oct. 3, 2024) — Discover Albany is thrilled to announce the return of the All-Hallow E’en Festival, a month-long celebration of Halloween events throughout Albany County. With nearly 5 weeks of non-stop community events, public art installations, dramatic tours, historical exhibitions, the Halloween House Ball, and more, Discover Albany and partners are rolling out an impressive itinerary for all.
With a successful revival last fall after an over 100-year hiatus, the festival will showcase Albany’s rich cultural tapestry and vibrant creativity through a variety of events and festive programming. The festival has grown significantly this year and aims to draw in folks from throughout the Capital Region and beyond. Last October there was an uptick in total visitors from the Northeast, with out of state visitors accounting for 47% of all visitor spending.
“Not only does the festival showcase our local talent, but it also fosters a sense of pride for the community and encourages visitors to join the celebration as we embrace the Halloween spirit and the history we have here,” said Discover Albany President and CEO Jill Delaney. “We’re looking forward to an exciting month and continuing to grow the festival each year.”
One-of-a-kind events this month include the Twilight Market on Saturday, Oct. 12, Hounds of Halloween on Saturday, Oct. 19, Albany’s Trick or Trot Pumpkin Run 5K on Saturday Oct. 26, and In Our Own Voices’ Halloween House Ball on Friday, Oct. 25. Guided events like the City Seance: Capital Repertory Theatre Walking Tour, Dark Side of Center Square Walking Tour, and Eerie Albany Ghost Tour are offered throughout the month. Space is limited and attendees are encouraged to purchase tour tickets in advance at albanyhalloween.com.
“Haunted history and true crime tours, thematic public art, live theatre, and an over the top Halloween House Ball — it’s scary how much there is to do in Albany this Halloween season,” said Discover Albany Director of Community Engagement Maeve McEneny-Johnson. If you’re dying to do everything, make sure you follow @discoveralbany and @albanyhalloween on Instagram for suggested itineraries and blog posts to help plan your FALL-bany adventure.”
The All-Hallow E’en Art Path features art installations throughout downtown Albany curated by Albany Center Gallery. This project was done in collaboration with 10 local artists, small businesses, and Discover Albany. The Art Path is in place now through Oct. 31. The All-Hallow E’en Art Path Family Fun Day takes place on Monday, Oct. 14.
The All-Hallow E’en Festival is a collaborative effort supported by an exceptional team of community partners and is made possible in part by the City of Albany’s Albany for All funding program and President Biden’s American Rescue Plan.
