ALBANY I SPY RETURNS FOR HALLOWEEN WITH THE “EERIE ALBANY” SCAVENGER HUNT
Prizes awarded to winners of the hunt created by Albany Archives, Discover Albany, and the Downtown Albany BID

ALBANY, N.Y. (Oct. 23, 2020) – The bi-annual scavenger hunt, Albany I Spy, returns this week with a seasonal spin. Beginning Oct. 24, Albany I Spy: Eerie Albany will take participants to locations highlighting the ghouls, gargoyles, and Gothic architecture in downtown Albany’s streets.

Participants can form teams to begin the hunt and follow their 12 provided clues. Each clue will lead groups to one of 12 buildings or landmarks in the Downtown Albany area, with a daily bonus clue posted on any one of the sponsors’ Facebook or Instagram pages. Participants who complete the scavenger hunt by Nov. 2 will be eligible to win up to $200 in gift certificates.

This edition of Albany I Spy was brought to you by the collaborative efforts of Albany Archives, Discover Albany and the Downtown Albany BID. Albany Archives, historian and storyteller highlighting the history of Albany via social media, initiated this historic spin on the Albany I Spy scavenger hunt.

Participants must take a photo with at least one group member at each location after solving their clue. In order to be eligible to win prizes, participants must email pictures of the 12 locations and their completed form to info@downtownalbany.org by 5 p.m. on Nov. 2.

The 12 clues can be found on a downloadable form at downtownalbany.org/ispy on Oct. 24. All participants are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing while on their hunt. Three winning teams will be chosen at random from completed and correct answer sheets, with three prizes awarded in the amounts of $200, $100, and $50. Winners will be able to redeem gift certificates to the downtown Albany businesses of their choice.

The complete details of the hunt can be found at downtownalbany.org/ispy or on Facebook at facebook.com/events/1041725019602835.
