Albany, NY -The 2016 Albany Visitors Guide has arrived! This year, we celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Albany County Convention & Visitors Bureau. To recognize that milestone, we've compiled the Albany Top 40, a list of the best of Albany-from favorite landmarks to notable festivals. These are the sites and experiences that make Albany a memorable place to visit, and a great place to live. We think you'll agree, and we encourage you to join the conversation by adding your own comments and personal memories to the #AlbanyTop40 list on Discover Albany's social media pages. Help us celebrate this destination and all its unique experiences!
The 2016 Visitors Guide also features a new designation for heritage tourism sites. From its preserved homes of early Dutch Settlers to being a stop on the Underground Railroad, Albany has a unique American story, and our heritage sites reflect that. To help focus attention on the area's diverse historic resources, we coordinated with the city's Heritage Tourism Working Group to develop a Heritage Tourism icon. Each year, thousands of visitors come to our historic homes and sites to get a glimpse into Albany's past, and our guide will help direct those visitors.
The guide is available for download on the Albany.org website. Based on past success, we are once again continuing our spring advertising through a number of high profile national and regional publications as well. The 2016 Visitors Guide will also be the primary fulfillment piece for all advertising and other visitor responses, and will continue to be the major "in market" piece for meeting and convention delegates. In fact, we moved up our publication date this year to synchronize with the Capital Center's marketing efforts, so that future editions hit the stands just as the doors of the new convention center open in 2017.
