Dunn Memorial Bridge Closures

Project to rehabilitate the Dunn Memorial Bridge, which carries state routes 9 and 20 over the Hudson River between Albany and Rensselaer. Please be aware of the following details and allow extra time for travelling this route:

On Monday, June 6, the state Department of Transportation (DOT) will begin work on an $11.5 millionproject to rehabilitate the Dunn Memorial Bridge, which carries state routes 9 and 20 over the Hudson River between Albany and Rensselaer. Please be aware of the following details and allow extra time for travelling this route:

Effective Monday,June 6, three of the bridge’s eight lanes will be closed, leaving two eastbound lanes open and three westbound lanes open.

·       Lane closures will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week through the fall, with all lanes reopened during the winter project shutdown.

·Work will recommence in early spring 2012, and continue through fall 2012, when the project is scheduled to be complete. 

Traffic impacts will vary throughout the project depending upon the work schedule and required lane closures. Work will be done in stages, with various lanes closed at different times throughout construction.

·Motorists can visit the project webpage, www.nysdot.gov/dunnbridge, to check lane closures or view traffic cameras showing the bridge from both sides of the river.

·      Repairs to the bridge will include steel and concrete repairs, and the installation of a new driving surface, bearings and joints. The westbound ramp from Rensselaer to the bridge also will be rehabilitated.
