New York State has implemented a system where individuals can sign up their e-mail address(es) to automatically receive emergency alert messages by selecting geographic areas of the state.
This includes NYSDOT transportation system incidents. The Capital Region TMC enters these incidents into the NY-Alert system, so you can receive timely notifications for major incidents...

This includes NYSDOT transportation system incidents. The Capital Region TMC enters these incidents into the NY-Alert system, so you can receive timely notifications for major incidents.

Also, the NY State Thruway has a similar program called TransAlerts:
