On behalf of the Albany County Convention & Visitors Bureau, we are delighted to welcome the 2014 NYHIMA Annual Conference to New York State's historical Capital City.

We are certain your conference experience will be productive and personally rewarding, but will also provide you with an opportunity to discover all that Albany has to offer. From shopping to dining, to arts and entertainment opportunities, and countless cultural cuisine venues, Albany has it all for you to take in!

The Hilton Albany is your host hotel and located in the heart of downtown Albany. A few blocks from the Hilton is the contemporary design of the Empire State Plaza, completed as a vision of Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller in 1978. The Plaza was built not only to serve as government offices, but as a center of arts, culture and community activity. The New York State Museum (the largest State Museum in the country), the Empire State Art Collection and the Empire State Performing Arts Center (known as The Egg for its unusual and distinctive design) are all contained at the Plaza. In addition, you will be able to visit the NYS Capitol as well as the Albany Institute of History & Art.

Additionally, while you are here, the Albany Institute will have an exciting new exhibition: GE Presents: The Mystery of the Albany Mummies. Two 21st Dynasty (1085-945 BCE) mummies and coffins have been on view at the Albany Institute since they were purchased in 1909 from the Cairo Museum. The elaborately decorated coffin was made for Ankhefenmut, a priest in the temple of Mut three thousand years ago. New research has revealed that his mummy cover and the coffin lid are in the collections of Londonâ€TMs British Museum and Viennaâ€TMs Kunsthistorisches Museum. This exhibition will reunite the coffin pieces and bring Ancient Egyptian objects to Albany from collections around the world. It will also highlight how Ancient Egyptian artwork and design inspired artists and architects in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. The Mystery of the Albany Mummies has been funded by GE and IMLS, a federal agency.

Explore Wolf Road and you will find many options for shopping and dining, including over 40 restaurants and Colonie Center Shopping Mall which features L.L. Bean, P.F. Chang's, The Cheesecake Factory, Sephora, Christmas Tree Shops and Regal Cinemas Stadium 13.

Listed below are several useful links that will provide you with additional information regarding services, shopping and dining in the Capital District. If there is anything we can do prior to your visit or while you are here, please contact Debby Goedeke, Convention Services Manager at 1-800-258-3582 x 100. Please enjoy your stay and come back soon.
