Whether you enjoy history or simply enjoy the scenic view of the Hudson River, the Blockhouse has something for the whole family. Inside photos, documents, and memorabilia telling the story of Stillwater's rich historic past. You will learn what it was like in a small town during the battles of "Saratoga" (Freemans Farm and Bemis Heights). Peeking through the portholes once used for firing at the enemy, you can just imagine the courage of the early settlers that gathered in these blockhouses for protection. SITE OPEN: May 24 - October 12 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM Wednesday thru Sunday LOCATION: Route 4, Stillwater, NY ADMISSION COST: Free, Donation Appreciated ACCESSIBILITY: Wheelchair call ahead. Strollers are allowed. FACILITIES: rest rooms, picnic tables overlooking the Hudson River, gift shop. DIRECTIONS: From I-87 (The Adirondack Northway) Exit 9 - the Mechanicville - Stillwater exit. Follow signs into the Village of Stillwater.
