Written and directed by Joseph Tovares (United States, 2002, 60 minutes, b/w and color) ZOOT SUIT RIOTS, an episode in PBS’s American Experience series, explores the complicated racial tensions that led to the explosion of race riots between whites and Mexican Americans in Los Angeles during the summer of 1943. Director Joseph Tovares, an Emmy-winning filmmaker and Latino pioneer in American television, will be on hand for discussion.
