Shakers believed that God was both male and femalein character. Women shared power fairly equally with men in Shaker society yet the laws and customs of the outsideworld often complicated gender roles within Shaker communities. Join Shaker Heritage Society ExecutiveDirector, Starlyn D’Angelo for an exploration of the role of women in Shakersociety through the stories of individual Shaker women in honor of Women’s History Month.
The lecture takes place at the 1848 Shaker MeetingHouse adjacent to the main entrance to Albany Airport off HeritageLane.
