A Christian ministry conference coming to Albany, New York, is expected to pump more than $750,000 into the local economy.
The Joyce Meyer Ministries
Conference Tour will host four events at Times Union Center
and at the Crowne Plaza downtown from July 21 to July 23.
The events are free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
Times Union Center General Manager Bob Belber estimates 6,000 people will attend the event July 22 and nearly 4,500 on July 23.
Since the next-closest tour stop is in Pennsylvania, conference planners are expecting a high number of out-of-town attendees, resulting in more spending at area hotels, restaurants and shopping centers.
“Studies show that the average out-of-town traveler spends about $200.58 per day when attending a conference in the Albany market,” said Michele Vennard, president and CEO of the Albany County Convention and Visitors Bureau. “This increased spending is a welcome addition to an already busy summer season for businesses and hotels throughout the area.”
