GROUPS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN ALBANY’S COLUMBUS PARADE

COLUMBUS PARADE & ITALIAN FESTIVAL, INC. 18th Annual Celebration of Italian Heritage ALBANY, N.Y. – Community groups and organizations are invited to participate in Albany’s 18th Annual Columbus Parade & Italian Festival on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009. Those interested in having a unit march, or having a float in the parade, should call 518-641-7511 or visit www.columbusdayalbanyny.com to download an application. The parade steps off at 1 p.m. in Washington Park and will proceed through the park, with the reviewing stand by the Lakehouse. Throughout Washington Park, there is an authentic Italian Festival is underway from 12 Noon to 5:30 p.m. with music, dancing, Italian food specialties, children’s activities and more. The City of Albany, Albany’s Italian American Community Center, West Albany Italian Benevolent Society and Roma Intangible Lodge #215 Order of Sons of Italy in America sponsor the Columbus Parade & Italian Festival, Inc., with the support of many businesses and community organizations in the Capital Region. ###
