2015 Albany Visitors Guide Released

Published:

The Albany County Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACCVB) recently distributed the new 2015 Albany Visitors Guide to area attractions, hotels, and community partners.

A view of the New York State Capitol building as it appeared on a 1907 postcard graces the cover of this year's info-packed guide. This year, the ACCVB partnered with the Albany Postcard Project to recreate historic scenes within the pages of the guide and to provide a retrospective of Albany's notable attractions and historic vistas. The views from the early 1900's curated by the Albany Postcard Project provide a comprehensive look at how the city appeared at the turn of the century that are easily compared to Albany as it appears today.

The guide also features information on the important contribution Albany and New York State played in the establishment of the most culturally significant communal religious society in America, the Shakers. This story highlights a major exhibit currently on display at the New York State Museum, entitled "The Shakers: America's Quiet Revolutionaries," which is also a major destination marketing focus throughout the year.

The Albany Visitors Guide is the main brochure sent to travelers seeking information about Albany and is also the primary source of information that is made available to meeting and convention attendees. 125,000 copies of the Visitors Guide will be distributed throughout the year. In addition to the print guide, an interactive Online Guide is available through www.discoveralbany.org. The Guide was published by Slocum-Wander Publishing.
