2011 Tulip Queen Nominations- Deadline April 1
63rd Annual AlbanyTulip Festival
Albany, New York – Mayor Jerry Jennings, the City of Albany and the TulipFestival Committee seek nominations for the 2011 Tulip Queen.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Nominees must have a strong sense of community, be knowledgeable of Albany, and possessleadership skills. Nominees are women between the ages of 18 and 23, nevermarried and must reside in AlbanyCounty for the entireyear of her reign (May 2011 - May 2012). www.albanytulipqueen.com exploresthe past and present achievements these extraordinary women are capable ofreaching.
SCHOLARSHIP:
The Tulip Queen will be awarded a $5000 scholarship, andeach court member will receive a $1500 scholarship award upon completion of theyear of reign.
MISSION:
The Tulip Queen & Court members will serve as Albany’s ambassadors forone full year of reign. These ambitious young women will place a major focus onthe Mayor Jerry Jennings Literacy Campaign and spend hundreds of hourspromoting the value of reading to children. Each Queen and Court developinitiatives to further this goal.
HOW TO NOMINATE:
1) To nominate, visit www.albanytulipqueen.com.This site provides easy access to the 2011 nomination form as well asinformation about the Tulip Queen and Court selection process, photos, eventsand blogs by the current Tulip Queen Mishka Gilkes & Court members AshleyHolt, Keva Luke, Melissa Pelletier and Gabrielle Rieth.
2) You may also nominate by submitting a letter detailingthe candidate’s qualifications, as well as her name, address and phone number,and the nominator’s name and phone number to:
