All tours begin at the Albany Heritage Area Visitors Center, 25 Quackenbush Square, corner of Broadway and Clinton Avenue.

Metered parking is available; click here for directions.

Albany Aqua Ducks:

The Ducks are a fun way to see historic Albany before “splashing down” on the scenic Hudson River.

For more information on the Albany Aqua Ducks, click here, or check out the Calendar of Events for schedules and rates.

Tours by Trolley:

Explore this historic and architecturally magnificent area. These tours are offered seasonally. Albany is the oldest chartered city in the United States and the second oldest continuously inhabited settlement in the country.

From the 17th century site of Fort Orange, and 19th century Underground Railroad sites, to the futuristic Empire State Plaza, these tours provide a look at our ever changing city. For tour dates click here.

Self-Guided Walking Tour of Albany:

A printed tour brochure guides visitors through the development of the city by way of its buildings and street patterns.

Follow the evolution of Albany from its earliest settlements to its current status as a capital city.

Brochures, and our Visitors Guide, are available at the Albany Heritage Area Visitors Center.

Hudson River Way Guided Walking Tours:

The Hudson River Way is a pedestrian bridge that connects historic downtown Albany to the shores of the Hudson River, offering direct access for pedestrians and bicyclists.

The bridge features a unique series of 30 paintings and lampposts. The paintings are executed in 17th century, trompel’oeil style. The paintings tell the story of Albany’s history through the use of artifacts and object of everyday life.

Guided and self-guided tours are available. Check out the Calendar of Events for guided tour dates. Brochures for self-guided tours are available at the Albany Heritage Area Visitors Center.
