"Salt" Scenes Filmed in Albany, NY

SALTY Facts:


* SALT,
starring Angelina Jolie, used the Empire State Plaza’s three-level configuration of road ways and ramps, to film an invigorating chase scene, for a two week period back in late April/early May, of 2009.

* The local economic impact from the 2009 SALT filming in Albany was conservatively estimated to be over $2.5 million.

* Approximately 200 extras, were hired locally to appear in SALT. They collectively received over $150,000 for their efforts. 

* Approximately 150 SALT crew members traveled to the area for the Albany portion of SALT.

* SALT was also filmed in NYC, Long Island, and Washington DC

* In SALT, Jolie plays a CIA agent under suspicion of being a Russian spy.  

* SALT was originally scripted with a male lead and Tom Cruise was approached to play the title character. Ultimately, he backed out and the script was rewritten with a female lead and Angelina Jolie took the role

* Both Angelina and Brad were in Albany for the filming of SALT, but will not be present for the Palace Theater premiere. 

* The last major motion picture premiere held at the Palace Theatre was in 1987, for Ironweed.
