The State Department of Health issued a new form on its website, www.health.state.ny.us. The paperwork now reads “Bride/Groom/Spouse.” The earliest a gay couple can apply for the license is July 24. The marriage can take place 24 hours after the license is obtained. New York became the sixth, and by far the largest, state to legalize gay marriage late last month.
