Albany Ambassadors & Volunteers

Albany Ambassadors

Each year, a very special group of volunteers bring their association, sports, and group meetings to Albany and the Capital Region, with the help of the ACCVB. These volunteers care about the Albany community and devote many hours to assure that their meeting is successful and that Albany is well received.

To honor their efforts, they are named as Albany Ambassadors.

2011 Albany Ambassadors

The ACCVB Albany Ambassador program began in 1993. A committee comprised of members developed criteria and initiated the program with the first class of honorees in 1994. Since then, more than 100 dedicated volunteers have provided the Capital Region's economy with a tremendous impact and been honored as Albany Ambassadors. Their combined efforts have already brought over 100,000 delegates to Albany.

You can be an Albany Ambassador! If you belong to a club, association, business group, or religious organization, are involved in planning a sporting event or activity, or are affiliated with a military or reunion group and decide to hold your meeting/event in Albany, contact the ACCVB for complete meeting planning assistance. From arranging hotel and meeting facilities to registration and welcome materials for delegates, the ACCVB staff has the experience and knowledge to host a successful meeting/event and will help you become a great Albany Ambassador.

Albany Ambassador status is achieved if the meeting/event planned generates more than 100 room nights (one room night = one hotel/motel room occupied for one night) and after the meeting has occurred. Awards are presented to Albany Ambassadors at the ACCVB Annual Dinner.

For more information about meeting planning and how to become an Albany Ambassador, or to host a meeting or event in Albany, contact ACCVB.
