Fall is Festive in New York's Capital Region! Albany invites you to share in the natural splendor of the vibrant fall colors while enjoying a wide variety of food, drink, local crops, entertainment, music, and fine crafts. Autumn in the Capital Region is filled with fine festivals and good times. Fill your calendar with these a colorful events. On September 11th end your summer with cool water and hot jazz at the Albany Riverfront Jazz Festival for one incredible day of musical entertainment. The Festival, located on the shores of the majestic Hudson River will feature a dazzling line-up of Jazz Greats earning a solid reputation from jazz enthusiasts. - The Shaker Fall Harvest Craft Fair, September 11th-12th, brings in over 75 artisans offering unique hand crafted goods at America's First Shaker Settlement. The Festival features fun and educational activities for the whole family including guided tours, craft activities, the Shaker barn, herb garden and farm animals. - Another special event this year is the 3rd Annual Garden of Eating Tour. This ten day, self-guided, driving tour, running from September 24th - October 3rd, 2010 will feature delicious, creative, and sustainable local food and products highlighting the best independent local farms and restaurants that Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, and Rensselaer Counties have to offer. - Outside the city on October 18th-19th, the Farmers' Museum in Cooperstown will be celebrating the season's bounty at their Harvest Festival with a wide range of performers, artisans, and vendors. - The Capital Region's largest end of summer open-air, street festival is Larkfest. The event on September 25th, features 4 stages showcasing live music and entertainment, a family activity area, Hudson Valley cultural exhibits and a wide variety of vendors selling crafts, merchandise and food from local Lark Street restaurants. - There is a lot more than leaves going down in October throughout the Capital Region. On September 18th-19th, the Annual Capital District Apple Festival & Craft Fair at the Altamont Fair Grounds offers 125 of the finest crafters and artisans from throughout the northeast presenting a wide array of unique handmade crafts. - Goold Orchards, celebrates their 22nd Annual Apple Festival & Craft Show October 9th-10th with a merriment of the arts, crafts and agriculture of the Capital Region. - Celebrate the harvest the old world way on October 14th, at Oktoberfest. With tasty German food and drink specialties, Big Wally on the accordion, dancing, and arts and crafts vendors this festive atmosphere will show all a good time. Located at the Empire State Plaza.
